I am a life-long Long Islander, graduating from Sachem High School in 1999 and returning for good after graduating college in 2004. I currently live in Center Moriches, where I love to explore the plentiful beaches and forests of eastern Suffolk County. When I am not in class I am usually enjoying the outdoors with my family and helping my children (Lailah and Ricky) and dog (Monte) explore the wonders of nature.
My Background
After graduating Sachem High School in 1999, I spent 2 years at the United States Air Force Academy studying English. I departed the AF Academy in 2001 to complete my BA in English at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY. While at Le Moyne I played collegiate lacrosse on the school's first national semi-finalist team.
Following graduation from Le Moyne I returned to Long Island where I worked as a technical writer and insurance representative before returning to school at Stony Brook University to pursue my second baccalaureate in Sustainability Studies. While at SBU I worked full time as a wildlife biologist doing wildlife rehabilitation on eastern Long Island. I graduated from SBU in 2011, earning Summa Cum Laude honors.
In 2012 I joined the New York City Teaching Fellows program where I completed my Master's Degree in Adolescent Education at PACE University and worked teaching Earth Science and Living Environment at STAR Early College School on the Erasmus Campus in Brooklyn.
This is my third year at Elwood, and I am once again very excited to teach Accelerated Earth Science to 8th graders at the Middle School. I'm also looking forward to a fantastic year teaching Anatomy and co-teaching Elwood's first three sections of AP Seminar with Mr. Chesnoff. I look forward to a wonderful, productive year with great growth for all students.
